Yale Reunion Giving Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Expectations
Adopted from the Yale Alumni Fund Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Expectations
The Yale Reunion Giving community strives to promote an environment of inclusivity and acceptance where all people feel valued and respected. We are proactively committed to upholding the standards outlined below in all aspects of our daily work and interactions.
The Yale Reunion Giving Community:
- Welcomes feedback from Yale community members to increase our understanding of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Sees diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging as connected to our daily work and interactions and critical to ensuring the well-being of our staff and the communities we serve.
- Acknowledges and addresses any inequities within our policies, programs, and environment.
- Explores potential underlying, unquestioned assumptions that interfere with inclusiveness.
- Advocates for and supports thinking among senior managers about how systemic inequities impact our institution’s work and interactions, and how best to address that in a way that is consistent with Yale’s mission.
- Challenges assumptions about what it takes to be a leader and positions itself to provide leadership opportunities across the Yale community.
- Practices and encourages timely, intentional, and transparent communications that address diversity, equity, and inclusion.
- Commits time and resources to expanding diverse representation within our volunteer, donor, and staff communities.
- Leads with respect and tolerance. Expects all staff, volunteers, and donors to treat people with respect and tolerance.
This is a living statement. Reunion Giving leadership will periodically re-evaluate the resources and methods by which we promote a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging and honor the commitment to grow in this area.
